It is booked months ahead, but the paste itself goes on only two to three days before the event: henna keeps darkening for about 48 hours after it comes off, so timing it too early or too late costs you colour on the day itself. A henna stain keeps darkening for roughly 48 hours after the paste comes off. Apply it the morning of the wedding and it is still pale. Apply it a week early and it has already started to fade. Two to three days before is the point where colour and freshness overlap.
How much does bridal mehndi cost?
Bridal mehndi is priced by coverage, not by guesswork. Hands only costs less than a full bridal design running arms to the elbow and feet to mid-shin, because it takes less time to apply. Every tier below has a published starting price.

Prices start at these figures. Denser or more detailed designs take longer and cost more, and I will tell you the number before you commit, not after.
How far in advance should I book?
For a wedding in peak season, roughly May to September, and for the weeks around Eid, Diwali and Karva Chauth, book three to six months ahead if you can. Everybody wants the same handful of dates, and a Saturday in peak season fills first. A smaller or off-peak booking can often still be arranged with around two weeks to spare.
A deposit secures the actual application date once a price is agreed (25% of the total, non-refundable). This is standard practice for any booking that blocks out a whole morning or evening that could otherwise go to another client.
What is included, and what is extra?
A pre-wedding trial session, so you can see and approve a design before the day itself, is available, from £35. Aftercare balm and general timing advice are part of every bridal booking. Ask upfront if you want numbing spray or extra touch-ups added, since these are agreed as part of your quote, not added afterwards.

How do I get my henna stain darker?
Leave the paste on for as long as you comfortably can, ideally overnight, and keep the area warm rather than rinsing it in cold water straight away. Once the paste comes off, avoid water and soap on the design for the first few hours, and use a natural balm or oil instead of a fragranced lotion afterwards. The stain keeps deepening for about 48 hours regardless of anything you do, which is exactly why the two to three day timing above matters more than any aftercare trick.
How do I know my artist is not using black henna?
The paste Piya uses contains Natural henna powder, lemon juice, henna sugar, cajeput essential oil, lavender essential oil and nothing else. Real henna paste goes on olive green and stains rust red, gradually, over about 48 hours. If a paste goes on black, or stains black within the hour, it is not henna: it contains PPD, and applying it to skin is illegal in the UK.
